Signal Hijack is an experimental project that investigates a reversal possibility on wireless audio/video systems. It is an initiative to develop creative strategies of communication using reversal dynamics.
The project is a conceptual redevelopment of its precedent: Signal TakeOver initiative. A prior prototype that explores the same reversal possibility aimed to wireless CCTV systems as response to extensive methods of personal surveillance. This project aims to engage collaboration among different people, converge technology, knowledge and DIY culture in an effort to re-contextualize technology to speculate ways in which electronic devices can be used in a reversed manner.
The idea behind Signal Hijack is to research and create a useful platform that can be creatively used for diverse applications. It inhabits the line between creativity and technology in a way that the any person can create and broadcast using the system. Signal Hijack is a free-media in a stage of continuous re-invention and evolution.
This document contains all stages of research and development of Signal Hijack. It is divided in different sections ranging from preliminary studies on wireless communication to reflections on the efficacy of the system.
Signal Hijack is not a tool for misuse and malware. It consists of an academic project that explore reversal possibilities in media ecologies.
Think before using it!
